It is with great pleasure to welcome players back this season after the longest break in the university game. As BUCS and NAMS league competitions have now commenced, we are thrilled to see the incredible engagement across the sector – including the highest number of SRFU affiliations at 160 – and to see how eager students are to play the game we know and love again.
While celebrating the return of university rugby, we must not forget the rugby values, and provide a safe, enjoyable environment to each and every player. The positive culture we all work hard collectively to create must be communicated, implemented and reinforced across the game to achieve this, but especially crucial now.
We have seen a myriad of fantastic initiatives and great engagement that set the tone for the season. Regrettably, we have also received reports of behaviour that is not and cannot be a part of the rugby culture. To that note, please see a joint letter to members from the SRFU and the RFU.
